The BLA Scoop Top Prizes at The MPA H&S Awards Ceremony
The outstanding health & safety improvements implemented by members of the British Lime Association have been acknowledged at the annual MPA H&S Conference and Awards 2016 ceremony in London.
The continued high standards set by Lhoist were rewarded with them scooping the top industry prize, The John Crabbe Trophy, for Outstanding Excellence in Health & Safety. The judges commented that they have “a successful health & safety culture based on a strong and committed leadership team. Introducing a Zero Harm Behaviours Framework programme, they trained all employees and main contractors on the four key behavioural themes: standards, communication, risk management and involvement. Continued development by the workforce steering group ensures momentum is maintained”. Their achievements are acknowledged here: https://vimeo.com/191129684
Singleton Bitch were also rewarded with an MPA Special Award for “excellent health and safety standards and being a consistent contributor to health and safety initiatives within the MPA membership and in Europe”.
The BLA H&S Committee, led by Viv Russel of Tarmac, have recently introduced industry Peer Reviews and these were acknowledged by the judges as “providing an opportunity for employees to visit other sites and partake in safety discussions, share best practice and develop an intercompany safety network. Learnings are then shared with the workforce during monthly safety meetings”.
