BLA lime products to be C.E Marked under the Construction Products Regulation
The Construction Products Regulation (CPR) came into force on 24th April 2011 and will completely replace the Construction Products Directive (CPD) on 1st July 2013.
The main impact of this change for BLA members is that certain lime products must be C.E marked from this date. This legal obligation shows that C.E marked products have been produced to a harmonised EU product standard and the associated declaration of performance and compliance with regulation aims to ensure a reliable, visibly conforming product is sold on the UK and EU markets.
The specific products that will be covered by the new regulation are those included in the BS EN 459-1 Building Limes standard, which includes calcium silicate bricks, lime for soil stabilisation and lime for masonry, plastering and rendering. BLA members will ensure that they adhere fully to the mandatory regulations.
