BLA Health & Safety Risk Assessment Workshop
The recent BLA Health & Safety Risk Assessment Workshop attracted 20 delegates from many operational areas of the 3 lime producing member companies to the Lafarge Tarmac site at Tunstead near Buxton.
The representatives exchanged experiences and learned about different risk assessment techniques. There were four work stations with different scenarios which had previously given rise to an incident. The multi-disciplinary groups discussed the incidents and completed a risk assessment indentifying measures to prevent recurrence, then presented their findings to the whole group. Everyone then visited the site to view and discuss the practical implementation of risk assessments with operational and maintenance personnel.
The group also discussed and reviewed the PPE requirements when working with lime and attitudes to safety within the industry. All agreed that co-operating across the industry helps promote best practice in health and safety and that similar events should be arranged in the future.
