Health & safety

The health and safety of employees and contractors in the lime industry is a top priority for the BLA.

All members work together and collaborate to share best practice and experience throughout the industry, which is a major tool in achieving our target of zero incidents.

The BLA is part of the Mineral Products Association (MPA), which was the first trade association to sign up to the Health & Safety Commission's Hard Target initiative.

The combined effect of so many companies applying themselves to safety improvements has yielded a wealth of innovation, from changes to the physical working environment to the development of a health and safety culture across all MPA product groups.

Working with Lime Products

The BLA member's products are covered under the European Union regulation (EC 1907/2006) known as REACH (the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals).

Lime products registered under REACH will have a safety data sheet, which provides guidance on the physical properties of the product, safe handling, working with the product and information on classification and labelling.

To obtain the safety data sheet on the lime product you are using please contact the producer directly, using the contact details on our Members Page.
